Whowouldathought we like Decals

I never knew that the boys would enjoy making plagues w/ decals... who knew they liked to get so involved in mami's little projects and I terribly enjoy having them help.

Check out what we came up w/

Here's what I found at the local GW. It was partially FREE! Teehee

We laid it on an Ikea sage green plate that I got this summer and sprayed it white. Then Jacob and I used a ruler (his because he wanted it no other way) and made sure the line would be perfect for the decal. We laid it down and I had Jacob run his fingers and nails over it to secure it.

Then he carefully started to peel it back. He's such a great little teeny helper.

Pausing for a final check, he was convinced it wasn't on straight, but we agreed that it was.

Jacob was taking too long so I took it upon myself to peel it off. I did it very very slowly!

Nelson choose the word hope out of the Hope. Faith. Love.

Fin! I love how simplistic it is.  Please, ignore the unfinished back splash, that is to come soon enough =)

I hope you'll keep stopping by since the boys have a couple more decal projects they want to do that they talked me into =)

Shopping on Black Friday Shopping Reminders

Woot Woot, it's getting to be that time of the year! I'm excited to get w/ my friends and shop shop shop =)
This year it's all about the toys! I usually focus on home repairs, but PFFT! I'm getting it done for the boys... That's the goal.

Here are some last minute reminders;
1. Check Out the Ads & Print them Out; don't forget the ads at home!!

2. Research Every Item your Little Heart Desires

3. Compare all Ads! Don't Forget the Anchor Stores; just because they might not advertise as much does not  mean they are not holding a BLACK Friday sale.

4. Check Out the Early Bird Specials; that sometimes start on Thanksgiving Day and BLACK Friday from 3 a.m. until 11 a.m

5. Online Shopping; you can keep warm and shop from home right after midnight and on some sites like Amazon.com get even better deals. I'm doing that as well as heading out to ze stores.
6. Gift Receipts; Always get the receipt!!
7. The most important tip I received from Cheri @ Bargain Decor Mom was to come up w/ a plan of attack. And we have! We will be carrying our HUGE Ikea bags (in case we can't get carts in time), small bottle of water and an over the shoulder purse (big enough for the folded ads and wallets) what else do you think might be needed?

NOTE: Here's a bit of BLACK Friday history see it HERE on Wikipedia or read below

History

One of the earliest recorded uses was September 24, 1869 was deemed Black Friday; a day of stock market catastrophe. The history of the day after Thanksgiving being the official start of the holiday shopping season may be linked together with the idea of Santa Claus parades. Parades celebrating Thanksgiving often include an appearance by Santa at the end of the parade, with the idea that 'Santa has arrived' or 'Santa is just around the corner'.
In the late 19th century and early 20th century, many Santa parades or Thanksgiving Day parades were sponsored by department stores. These include the Toronto Santa Claus Parade, in Canada, sponsored by Eaton's, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade sponsored by Macy's. Department stores would use the parades to launch a big advertising push. Eventually it just became an unwritten rule that no store would try doing Christmas advertising before the parade was over. Therefore, the day after Thanksgiving became the day when the shopping season officially started.
Later on, the fact that this marked the official start of the shopping season led to controversy. In 1939, retail shops would have liked to have a longer shopping season, but no store wanted to break with tradition and be the one to start advertising before Thanksgiving. President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved the date for Thanksgiving one week earlier, leading to much anger by the public who wound up having to change holiday plans.[20] Some even refused the change, resulting in the U.S. citizens celebrating Thanksgiving on two separate days.[20] Some started referring to the change as Franksgiving.

Living Room Update that didn't cost a thing

I wanted a faint splash of color to the living room since I think it was rather "clean". What an oxymoron, eh? But here is the thing... I'm tired of buying and replacing things so, I thought I would do some rearranging.

I brought in the rug from the dinning room and planted it in the living room. Think it works? Tan rug, black pillows and zero window cover. Sorry for the grainy pics.

Now in the living room! thoughts? =)

I went a bit cray cray and spent $2.00 on 1.25 yards of this sea foam BLUE fabric that I scored at Fields Fabrics and made some pillows. I wanted them to be plain no dangling things, feather, shimmer or anything too pretty. Just Plain so that it bounces off the lamp and Pier 1 rug.

Oh, wait did I show off my GW find this weekend? I got it for $1.00 YAY!! A'int she a fabush little thing? =)
She seems BLUE-r then she really is. She is in fact a greenish BLUE I call it a SEA FOAM BLUE (whatever that means).

But I wasn't quiet satisfied. My window is a bit high, but if you're out side you might still catch the tops of our heads as we walk in an out of the living room or as my guests sit on the couch so, I added a little somethin' somethin'

Some temporary shades I got at The Home Depot for $1.90 each. So, I put them all in the living room since I read some wheres that they can energy saving during the summer and winter. Hey, at this point it's cheaper then buying cellular blinds.

How do you think they look? I like them a bit since I want to keep it light and I think the white keeps in that theme.

In the end, I put the tan rug under the table in the dining room and I truly like the way it looks there. Since that space is so teeny, it opens it up, I think.(See the wreath? I have Christmas on the brain lol)

Keep your fingers crossed for me so I can score some flooring on BLACK Friday because we really need a change in there the kitchen. I hear Lowe's will have some incredible sales so, hear I come Lowe's! =)

New Kitchen Update Delays

By the beginging of next week I'll have a couple of things to show you blog-ettes that I'm working on... I'd get too it faster, but work is getting in the way =)

Does work get in your way of projects and blogging? =) Becauase it does for me... Example; this morning first thing was laundry, dishes, taking kids to school, work. In the evening; it's usually reviewing homework, puttin kids down for the night, cleaning for the day and folding the laundry while watching my stories. It doesn't sound like much so, why do I run out of time? *BTW, there's always enough time to get sick! What the dilly YO!!?? LOL

Either way I've decided to fit in tiling my back splash whenever I can fit it in. AGH! That means that it's a very slow process.

1. Tiling the back splash
2. Changing faucet (yay)
3. New blackboard
4. Re-Organizing cupboards

This list is far too short to take me longer then 1 week.  HELP! LOL

So, I keep stopping by I need motivation and suggestions =)

Black Inspirations

I love the color BLACK. It is regal, powerful, chic, sophisticated and comfortable. Oh... so yummy!

Here some of my inspirations for BLACK furniture and considerations

Silvered chair w/ black velvet

Gotta want this black dresser, but I rather have glass knobs on it then the silver

I think this chair is so regal and chic. I could place that one right next to the buffet in the living room...

Check out the chairs. Don't they look like butter?  ;)

This one would go in my room
If I only had a foyer =)
