Pottery Barn Leather Pillow

Hey guys, I saw this a long time ago and decided I wanted it... but it was a little over $60 for just the cover and not the insert.

So, I DIY it. I found a leather skirt for basically nothing.

Made the form

Voila!!

It is soft and luxurious! I hope you get to make your own soon...

No Drilling DIY Glass Lamp

I've been eye balling these for the last few months. Well, I had no money to spend on these almost $200 clear glass lamps and then I got an idea....

DIY CLEAR GLASS LAMP!

I found the bottle lamp hook ups in my tool box. Who knows where it came from  =)

Put it all together;

The vase cost me $2.99 at the Hob Lob and of course I had the 40% off coupon. Genius!!!

Industrial strength E600 $2.99

Then I taped it into position

I waited about 4 hrs before I removed the tape. PS; the extra glue will stay there since it dries hard, so try to rub it off prior to setting.

Voila!

My word this was so much fun to do last night. And it only took me about 30 mins to put it all together and then there is the waiting time to dry... that was the hardest thing to do ;)

BTW; I don't like the shade but I had to share this DIY ASAP! I can't wait to see how others will stain the glass, fill the dome and other great DIY ideas for it.

Enjoy =)

PS: I've been daily stalking Thrifty Decor Chick... think she'll see this? =)

UPDATE:

**I've replaced the shade w/ the Restoration Hardware one I found at GW. I'm still not satisfied, I'm truly looking for a drum shade in pleather black.

Rehab for furniture

Almost threw this out. You can't imagine how many things I've placed curbside, after a few days I start to think... "coulda, shoulda, woulda". So, w/ this one, I decided to just stand back and imagine where it would fit if paint, then the it was "black or white?" LOL.

Countless stickers, removing them was a good time *sarcasm*

I used nail polish remover and it took me a little over 3 hours to get them all off.

I applied the nail polish to the cotton balls and let them sit on the sticker while a scraped it off, by the time I got the sticker under the cotton ball it was a easy. I used plastic scraper to protect the wood.

Primed w/ left over Gripper primer and sealer.

With so little storage space this was a great solution, I'm hoping the boys will continue to use it to keep books, back pack off my table and furniture. Hmmm maybe this should be where I put my keys every night.

It appears tight but it's actually a great size for that wall.

I saved a boat load by rehabbing Nelson's bookcase and increasing storage and organize more as time goes on.

Ikea's Expedite is a great bookcase that some turn upside down and add legs to rise it. Have you checked out Ikea hacker yet?

Small precious corners

These are a few of my favorite things...

GW $20. I smile every time I dust her. BRNB 32 inch LCD GW $100 I treat her like kindly =)

Pottery Barn lamp from a garage sale $5.00

Vintage books from GW $1.00

Another "catch all" love the bugs on this tin can. GW $.30

Candle holders GW, black bamboo mirror from garage sale, Pier 1 candles, Archipelago scent (that was pricey), the star was a gift from Jenny * Thanks Boo, I love my star.

Black Croc leather vase from Debbie *I've been eye balling this one for 2 yrs, I think. So it's been recycled to handing it over to me. =)

Check out the new door knobs!! They are fabulous, the boys love them, they get disinfected once a week and sometimes twice =)

Topiary found at the GW paid a whopping .30 cents for it =)

Pictures of ze boys in the hall way.

Black metal Ikea Lamp it looks absolutely great in that corner along another PB wire candle holder from GW.

A DIY project inspired by Thirfty Decor Chick I can't stop reading her blog and following everything she does. Am I a copy cat? Gladly! she has incredible ideas... SARAH, CAN YOU HEAR ME? =)

Please, ignore the floors. I need to work on saving for new floors this winter... (list keeps growing)
This little Shark was from an estate sale for $5. Great for kids to help around the house, but this could never replace your real vacuum.

Ahhh, thans Bed Bath & Beyond. Keep sending me those great coupons. =)

These are great in bedroom. Both for $1.00 *Thanks Cheri, great find.

Here's my zen corner in my bedroom... If Jacob hadn't sneaked in my bed I would have shown you around, but we can do that another day.
Chair was from dumpster diving at Pier 1 $FREE, cushion $.30 cents, mirror Target $4.97

Picture frame from GW (I'm still working on taking the perfect picture to go there), lamp from Ikea Grono. And my tape measure that came out of my purse for a second.

Over the toilet cabinet. This hold the contact, contact solution, daily earrings, cotton swaps, cotton balls, hair clips and hair bands. Keeps my little things separate from the boys. See my PB towels... YUM!

I'm excited about neutralizing my spaces... I need a mental break from the harsh reds, yellows and greens I was using. And I have to say, these colors have created a more quiet and zen space in my room bathroom and kitchen.

August will be a very productive month!! BRING IT ON =)

Biggest Clog EVER

What a mess these last 3 days have been w/ out a kitchen sink. I've been washing the dishes in the laundry room YUCK!!

Debbie's husband Marshall came over and... problem solved. ** If you're a plummber you'll get offended by my lack of proper terminology LOL

First he ran a 20ft long snake from the kitchen after he removed the "jack?" That didn't work.

He undid the clamp thingy from the Y pipe of the main pipe that leads to the city.

I couldn't stand to watch all that food coming down so, I ran in to the room w/ the boys. But all I heard was GOOSH! YUCK. Poor Marshall got pretty splashed w/ all that crud and Drano.

It wouldn't even go down the drain in the basement.. Double YUCK!

Putting the clamp back on...

The boys are expressing my delight!!

I have my kitchen sink back and all the dishes are nice and shinny again.

Lesson:  do not put rice, pasta, big chunks of meat in your garbage disposal...=)

Old School Peaches & Herb - Reunited

Heard this on the radio today and had to share... I miss hearing those great school ballads that made you all tingly =)

Enjoy!

Patiently dealing w/ clutter

This is today's view from my kitchen.

This is what I'm faced w/ for the last week. I tripped on paint can and banged one of my toe nails. Now I have a hanging toe nail. AGH! All this mess is driving me batty, how do you ladies do it? give me some tips... =)

I'm hoping for something similar to this...

Simple clean lines. I'm lourving the white clean look. I know it'll be hard to keep up w/ a 5 yr. old running around, but it's worth try for me. =)
