GW for NEW couch

After many months of searching for a small sectional everywhere and losing patience. That is Big Lots, American Freight, Value City Furniture, World Market. Seriously, it was impossible to find a small cozy sectional at the right price. but I was convinced I'd find the perfect one. I sold the BLACK futon for $125 on CL. Stashed the $125 away and hoped to break even with a brand new couch.

And then today I found this gem.
She was sitting in the corner at the GW just waiting for me to adopt her =D
Dimensions: Sofa 84"W x 38"D x 38"H

She came w/ a broken leg and a broken side bar, but as you all know... I see potential! But the couch was priced at $279 last week. Then today at $179. I talked them down to $100 before I had fully thought it thru to whether or not it could be repaired. Then there was the issue of it being blue. I figured "well, maybe it's time I leave my comfort zone of browns, tans, whites and black and bring in different hues. BLUE! That's an organic color right?

But I had one more step to take. Before buying her, I had to call Ashley Furniture and ask some serious questions on the damage of the legs (NOT THE FRAME); does that compromise durability, warrantee, stability of the couch? How could I repair it? would my replacing the leg compromise the couch? They quickly offered to send me a new leg and side bar with instructions for FREE!!! Oh my! *on the cell fone leaving the office to run back to GW* then a call to Cheri. She's the only girl I know that has a truck that I can use and she never complains =D Thanks CHERI!

WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?!! A $100 for a brand new couch an w/ warranties including. Okay, okay. Am I being punked? where's the hidden camera? Ashton Kutcher?

I got the best deal of the month on this beautiful couch that is originally priced at $599. I love the straight lines, I'm not a fan of a bubbly round edges (yes, I know it goes against everything feng shui). I'm gaga over the bright nail head design, the Showood accent around the couch, the firmness and the velvety fabric. I'm hoping this will lighten up the room.

After removing the side door and squeezing it thru the slider doors from the back yard and then the stairs *Oh boy, I'm reminded that I MUST loss weight* Here she sits in my basement... please ignore the red accents. As you all know I'm so over the RED! ICK!!! *I see a garage sale in my future* Jenny can you hear me!! =D

How about the nail heads?

Don't forget. It. Was. $100. From $150. For a brand new couch at GW. YAY!

Now let the search and saving begin for the chair and ottoman. Or I can always consider two leather chairs from VCF.

Oh Goodwill, how I love you more and more each day... Thanks for all the beautiful finds!

Look at how pretty she is. YUM! I can't wait for late fall to lay on it, cozy up w/ warm blanket next to my fireplace and some hot cocoa.

Do you remember the candle holders I got from a garage sale this summer? if not see them HERE

and check out the basement HERE  I'd love some tips on furniture positioning.

July Finds

I found some pretty great things this months... I would go back months ago, but I would spend days posting all my finds =D

HobLob Candle holder; retails $29.99 I found it at GW for $.30 cents WHOOPEE

Did you notice the BROWN in the bathroom? I just love my chocolate new bath...You can see it HERE.

Pier 1 candelabras; retails $29.99 and $49.99 these were the best garage sale find of the month for $5

I wish you could see how beautiful these stainless candelabras are. They are exquisite! I had to get them even though I didn't know where I'd be displaying them, but I couldn't let anyone else get their paws on these. LOL
 And this is why.
Look how gorge they are on my mantel!

I think less is more. Therefore the collection of red and beige candles will be 86'd from my fireplace soon enough. Cause I really really really don't like over done, over accessorized and random crazy colors like teal, red, oranges and yellow and random spots. Again, I like the subtlety and zen. =D

Sorry, 'bout the grainy pics. My camera had no juice so I used my handy dandy celly.

Pottery Barn candle holder; GW why are you so good to me? =D

see the ding on it?

Right along w/ this beautiful 70's mirror for $10.00

I will not be painting this mirror because some things just don't need updating. This is a very eclectic mirror that can go w/ any decor. Don't you think?

It is beautiful just as it was intended to be... No paint required!

Bed Bath Body and Beyond faux leather ottoman w/ trays to match my accent chair $30

With the trays that I normally store inside along w/ my little handy dandy notebooks.

Isn't it beautiful!? It's so so purty...

8 yards of blue and tan micro suede fabric. Each for $1 bolt from GW. I LOVE YOU GW! =D

What are your finds? where would you display this beautiful mirror and candelabras?

Love your tips and suggestions. You guys are the most talented decorators I've ever seen.

Gone Teal!

I found this gallon of Valspar Sequoia Green paint at Lowe's for $5 and I grabbed it so quickly I might have sprained my shoulder LOL

It is truly beautiful and so yummy you want to lick it.

If you're following me, you've seen this chest before. Yuck w/ to the flowers, pink, baby blue and leaves. YUCK!! But for $3 at the local GW I couldn't walk away from it. Specially since it will serve as "hide the junk" place when family and friends are over. =D can't go wrong for $3 right?

This gave me a great opportunity to do some thing fun. But I still held it back a little because I have another paint can that is full of FUN and I can't wait to show you all that. That will be my daring to be fabulous project that will probably take a few weeks to complete because I have a few other projects stashed away, hiding. =D

Here is my assistant priming. Jacob is such a wonderful helper. He is always ready to get his hands dirty and help out. I don't think he has ever said no to me. Really!

Notice I taped the hardware w/ my favorite frog tape.

I protected the cedar from paint by taping that as well.

I covered the paint tray w/ a grocery store bag and pre wet the paint brush. I love how easy this makes painting =D

I knew from the minute I thought about painting the cedar chest that I had to make sure the cedar and hardware were not painted. So I lined the inside edges w/ the green tape and pressed it down w/ my nails so that it wouldn't bleed. It worked *wink*

Do you spy Jacob taking a break and playing on the puter? He was too funny today!

Before
And look what my $3 Lane cedar chest re-do looks like w/ a little sanding and painting. Je adore!!

After
I'm so very happy w/ how it all turned out. It is perfect although I am considering glazing. We'll see once I've lived w/ it w/ a bit just as she is.
BTW, this is how my pre soaked brush, roller and covered tray cleaned up after just a minute or two under the running water. Super duper sparkly clean! almost as if I'd never used them =D
