Small Brown Bathroom Upadate

Wow, this bathroom has been quite the ordeal. I never seem to be satisfied w/ any changes I've made here. So, I did a bit more this time around.

Curtain search has begun =D

My sista Jenny recommended that I paint the ceiling the same color as the walls to widen the room.

I considered crown molding, but it breaks it up and I'm thinking it's more for a very tall ceiling... right?
Jenny was right, painting the ceiling as well as the walls draws your eyes up wards and gives the illusion of a taller room. Hmmm, I might have to try this trick in the kitchen and living room.

BTW, this is BEHR prime & paint; color Ethiopia. I could lick my walls... it's so MOCHA!

The mirror which, I moved over from the dinning area; sanded, primed, painted white and VOILA! It's gorge!

Ceiling Paint

The sink vanity are all new off the shelf at Lowe's for $39.00. I used a credit I had w/ them and still had enough for bathroom condiments.

These are some left over knobs I had from another project. How much fun are these?

The faucet was a a Moen $20 find that once I opened was broken. So, there goes another drive to Lowe's w/ receipt on had to find a replacement. My luck they didn't have the save one and wanted to stick me w/ the normal $20 faucets... Hmm, not happening. So, I worked my magic and was able to score even a better one off the shelf priced at $120 for guess... wait for it... $20 WHOOPEE

That was a fun project. Time consuming for someone who doesn't know much about plumbing, but I loved the painting and decorating as usual!! =D

Small Loo Re-Do

I enjoyed the red powder room for a bit, but then it started to seem too small and I was feeling
claustrophobic. So, I knew it was time for a "re-do".

Our loo is fairly small as it is and after many searches I read that a bold color could make a
room appear larger and grandiose, but in my experience of using bold and bright colors, I'll
say that wasn't so for us. In fact it made the loo smaller and more complicated to paint over.

Thank God I'm over the RED phase. It only lasted about a yr. and I was done. I rather have a
calmer environment... I feel myself calming down and relaxing in that surrounding vs. the
latter LOL so much so that I find that when I'm in a room w/ harsh, bright, bold and overpowering
colors, my anxiety is a tad bit higher. It takes me longer to de-compress and I'm less patient.

Unfortunatly the other pictures didn't com thru too well, but this is the after... (for now, until I get another idear in my head)

As it is today...
The touch lamp I found at the GW outlet for a whole dollar. It's nice for the kids to find their way in the middle of the night when I keep it in the first setting. The Fluer De Lis I found when Joanne Fabrics was closing in Dec. 09 for $1.50.

Forgive the weatherizing plastic on the window... but it has to be done in Michigan ;) That bathroom is in the back of the house where there are no trees and there is mayor breeze blowing threw there so, I had to let the cute go and saran wrap the window LOL

Still cute though... lml

Shower curtain from Marshalls that I found this summer for under $20. I also got the towels to "coordinate"

There is not much "pazzaz" in this here bathroom, but it sure does look bigger after the paint job...

I still have a couple more surprises coming to this room. I promise I'll have an update in the next two weeks.

Basement Before & After

I can't believe how many small changes have been done and how many more there are to go. The kitchen and bath were RED. Today they are bit more demure and warm in NEUTRAL.

Biggest Before & After; the basement. This took 4 months to complete and I'm still working on it... AGH =) My plan is to have it all done up by New Years *yeah right* Lol

I love our 1/2 bath. It makes it so much easier to hangout in the basement and the boys having their friends over for the night, not to mention family & friends not having to fight over the powder room when it's a full house.

Fireplace; I choose to have the top of the brick fireplace covered w/ drywall (no screws in it) we just had a couple of 2x6's added long ways and the drywall floating over it. The 2x6's add support for a t.v, mirror or art, all w/ out ruining the brick.

Here it is today...

 Still have to add molding and go thru my tickle list and get all those odds and ends completed. Oh, how I wish I had extra time and a few pair of hands to help me. But I'll get it done!

Little things here and there that I'm not thrilled about.

For instance, I think the living space is too crowded. I will be moving stuff around in the next week since I'm in the look out for a couch that will be NEUTRAL and open.

But don't you love what it transformed too after 4500 dollars I think it was way worth it since the first bid was of 9K the second was 7K and the final cost was 4K but if you include the 1/2 bath plumbing another 500.

I have been using furniture we had, hand me down's or GW finds. So, I have not spend much on furnishing. That will come later. I have a plan! =)

Half bath. I had a pocket door added to keep the space open. Yes, it does cost more and it takes pre-planning but it was a fantastic solution. I'm loving our pocket door, too bad I couldn't add it else where.

This bathroom is big, NEW and always clean. I hope to add a shower in the next 2 yrs.

See the curtain? that is where the shower will go in a couple of yrs. but for now the curtain hides the electrical box and it's become useful for storage. I have a shelf in there where I try to organize things onto and keep things on hand.

I like how it looked w/ the white canvas better. I might have to incorporate that in for Xmas *wink*

This is what it looked like a month ago, but I wanted to change it around. Now like I said I feel the way it looks today is awfully crowed and boxed in. So, tonight while I watch Desperate Housewives I will make some changes.
