Sick, Shmik! it's dresser makeover time

So, I'm still under the weather. Some strange bug has hit me and my throat is dreadfully painful. I can't talk, swallow, turn my head, bend down... All and all it's been miserable.

But I decided months ago to paint my bedroom dresser and I did! Oh Lord what a painful task if was and although I had tears in my eyeballs half the time, I forged ahead and got it done. As well as I could do!

In a week or so when I'm feeling better, I will touch it up again and make sure it's all in order.

Here's the before; I don't think it was terrible, but in such a small space I needed to brighten it up and it does make a difference.

Did you notice I left the top black? That was Jacobs idea. He's such a great helper =D Love him everyday more and more!!!

I spy paint on my wood floors. I will scrape it off tomorrow

Do you think I should go w/ brushed nickel or glass knobs?

Or these?

I've been looking everywhere for some interesting knobs and can't seem to find some. Not even on Etsy.

These I found at Uneek Glass Fusions and I would die for them, they are $24 each that's almost $300 for the 12 knobs I need OUCH!! But they sure are darling...

Either way knobs will be on hold until next weekend, but if you know of any place I can get some cool knobs please leave me a comment and include the link.

BTW, do you think the antique WHITE looks too shabby? =D

Thanks so much for looking. Looking forward to your comments.

I'm proud to be square!

Okay I know the Android thing is getting a bit old for some, but not to me LOL Specially since I keep discovering new ways of using it and making my life easier.

Like the Square! What is the Square? it's a portable credit card reader and processor that is the size of a square Jolly Rancher.

I received mine yesterday and started playing w/ it right away and I love it. I will keep it in my wallet at all times. No joke!

SQUARE!!

This little thing (Square) plugs in to your fone and allows you to swipe any credit card, populating the CC number on to the screen.

You input the amount and how this money will be transferred to you. Your options are Cash, Card or Cancel.

Yikes! sorry about the fingerprints

I ran my Visa for $1.00 just to show you.

Took mine out, just in case =D

You'll feel a vibrations as it's reading the card number. Give it 5 seconds to read and register the CC number on to your account (I'll get to that in a minute). OH OH the app and reader are FREE!!

It will ask you for a signature so, you should always have the card holder in front of you for a signature. Make sure they use their finger pads and not nails, that's one of my pet peeves =D

The blue button on the bottom right of the screen is the continue button.
Once accepted you will see the "send a receipt" screen. Again you have choices on how you want to do that. SMS or Email. I choose SMS. Simple and I can add the number to a separate spread sheet I made in excel (in the fone) that I can merge to my home computer.

Once I send the receipt, I see this...

I literally received the SMS receipt w/ in seconds! Oh I'm loving this.

Going back to the beginning, you have to sign up w/ your market account on your fone. I have T-Mobile and it's called Market. Download Square. Sign in and make sure you are in.

Once that's done go online and add an account (I have my play checking account added to it) and that is where I transferred my $1 to and it worked TEEHEE! *account verification required*

Now, there are processing fees but I don't mind that. I mean, we all used and still use Pay Pal and they have the highest fees out so, I don't mind managing my intake and deposits for even a smaller fee. I'm cool w/ that.
Square currently accepts US issued Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards. And I hear they will soon be accepting HSA and spending flex accounts. WHOOO!

I will soon add a vid highlighting all the features, just remember I'll be using my Samsung Galaxy S so your format might be different.

Keep in mind this is the first of it's kind so it might not always be seamless, but as tech crazy person... I love how much easier things are w/ a little technology around you.

Here's the web site. Take a look and please let me know if this is something that you might use.

Paper Bag Basket and my first FAIL

I have all these grocery store paper bags that I've been saving up for a project... Although this is not what I wanted it for, I was some what on a roll tonight and so I wanted to see if I could turn it into a basket.

So, here you have it. I'll make it short.

1. I cut the bottom part of the paper bag, since it fit under the side table perfectly.

2. I measured all 5 sides of the bag.

3. Cut. Sew. Sew. ( I wasn't too concerned w/ sewing straight. See that? =D )

4. All in all this was a failed project. I will play w/ it a bit more and share w/ you all what I came up with.

Let me know what tips or suggestions you might have for me... I love hearing from you!!

Here is how you can join:
1. Link up your blog URL on to Linky.

2. Follow the hostess ( and leave a comment so they can follow you back).

3. Follow as many blogs as you'd like and when they follow you, follow them back.  Or follow them first.
(leave a comment on their blog so they can follow you back)

4. Either way spread the love and follow each other. In this case there is nothing wrong in being a follower =D

Gone Teal!

I found this gallon of Valspar Sequoia Green paint at Lowe's for $5 and I grabbed it so quickly I might have sprained my shoulder LOL

It is truly beautiful and so yummy you want to lick it.

If you're following me, you've seen this chest before. Yuck w/ to the flowers, pink, baby blue and leaves. YUCK!! But for $3 at the local GW I couldn't walk away from it. Specially since it will serve as "hide the junk" place when family and friends are over. =D can't go wrong for $3 right?

This gave me a great opportunity to do some thing fun. But I still held it back a little because I have another paint can that is full of FUN and I can't wait to show you all that. That will be my daring to be fabulous project that will probably take a few weeks to complete because I have a few other projects stashed away, hiding. =D

Here is my assistant priming. Jacob is such a wonderful helper. He is always ready to get his hands dirty and help out. I don't think he has ever said no to me. Really!

Notice I taped the hardware w/ my favorite frog tape.

I protected the cedar from paint by taping that as well.

I covered the paint tray w/ a grocery store bag and pre wet the paint brush. I love how easy this makes painting =D

I knew from the minute I thought about painting the cedar chest that I had to make sure the cedar and hardware were not painted. So I lined the inside edges w/ the green tape and pressed it down w/ my nails so that it wouldn't bleed. It worked *wink*

Do you spy Jacob taking a break and playing on the puter? He was too funny today!

Before
And look what my $3 Lane cedar chest re-do looks like w/ a little sanding and painting. Je adore!!

After
I'm so very happy w/ how it all turned out. It is perfect although I am considering glazing. We'll see once I've lived w/ it w/ a bit just as she is.
BTW, this is how my pre soaked brush, roller and covered tray cleaned up after just a minute or two under the running water. Super duper sparkly clean! almost as if I'd never used them =D

Here is how you can join:
1. Link up your blog URL on to Linky.

3. Follow as many blogs as you'd like and when they follow you, follow them back.  Or follow them first.

First look at the Android Honeycombe from Google

I'm so happy to see the this! YAY! I'm not a big fan of Apple so, I'm excited to see Google call it's claim on the market with Android Honeycomb mobile OS.

Check out the Motorola Xoom and tell me if you're planning on getting one (I know I am)

For a better understanding this is far better but longer;

If you guys are just as excited by a Google Chrome based tablet; are or will be in the market for one check out TechCrunch reviews and predictions HERE.

But for quick look I've high lighted some points below;

Performance
In general Honeycomb felt snappy — you can see in the video that there’s never really any lag. I did notice some slight jittering when dragging widgets, but was later shown a more recent build of the OS that seemed to fix this. And the fact that the Xoom has 1GB of RAM means that you aren’t going to find your browser tabs emptying the way they do on the current iPad.

Ease of Use
One of my biggest questions about Android tablet concerns usability. I believe that the iPad has been a hit in part because it is a simpler alternative to normal desktop operating systems, while still providing plenty of functionality for people who primarily surf the web, email, and watch videos. Many people buy iPads not just because they like the form factor, but because they want a computer that won’t prompt them with endless security alerts, software updates, and confusing installation processes.
Android Honeycomb is decidedly more complex than the iPad. Instead of a single hardware button used to jump back to the home screen, as there is on iOS, Honeycomb uses a soft button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. And maybe it’s just me, but the home button doesn’t even look that much like a home button (it could pass as an ‘up’ arrow, especially given the fact that the adjacent Back button is an arrow pointing left).
And some of Honeycomb’s improvements over iOS could also be considered possible stumbling blocks. If you long-press the desktop, you’ll bring up the widget/wallpaper selector, which some people will undoubtedly activate accidentally (and promptly panic). The third button in the bottom left corner lets you jump between recently used applications — a feature that I’ll love, but could confuse people who aren’t sure what’s going on.
But overall the OS is pretty easy to get the hang of. I’d still feel more comfortable handing an iPad to my mother (who absolutely loves hers, for what it’s worth), but the learning curve with Honeycomb isn’t very steep.

And For Those Who Like A Bit More Power…
If you’re comfortable doing more on your computer than email and browsing the web — and have ever felt a little restrained using an iPad — then Honeycomb may feel like a breath of fresh air.
Your home screen is no longer simply a grid of your favorite applications — it’s a dashboard populated with content, like your recent emails, favorite chat buddies, weather, to-do list, and more. Widgets aren’t anything new for Android, but they’ve always been cumbersome on mobile devices because screen real estate is so limited (I’ve found myself debating between keeping my Calendar widget or giving myself an extra row of apps on my phone’s home screen).
On Honeycomb this is much less of an issue. Widgets are the sort of thing that prove their worth over time (as opposed to during a 20 minute demo), but my initial hunch is that people will love them.
Honeycomb also features a new notification system that reminds me of Growl on Mac OS X. New updates slide into view in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, and you don’t have to squint to see them the way you do on Android phones. Again, very nice.
This is a big advantage for Android now, but I’ll be surprised if the next version of iOS doesn’t include widgets and notifications. Then again, I was surprised that the last version didn’t include them, so who knows.

For more HERE

Happy Teching

PS: the word is that they will be priced between $599-$699 will you pay that for it? I will!!
